What are white glove services?

Our core services have traditionally been short-term technology rentals, and our customers stick with us because of how easy we make it for them – all technology arrives on-site, imaged and ready to use right out-of-the-box.

Because our processes are designed for the mass customization of large quantities of technical devices like laptops, tablets and servers, it was only natural for us to add white glove services to our portfolio of offerings for end-users and resellers.

  • Custom images built and deployed on any number of systems
  • Server building
  • Custom kitting availability
  • Storage, configure, manage long-term deployments
  • Asset tagging, etching, Chrome enrollment, and Chrome OS updating

End customers typically don’t have the resources to do this on site. Even if you have 200 computers arriving to your facility, or that of a customer, this creates a lot of work and trash for their staff to manage. IT workers trying to troubleshoot company hardware or manage network issues would have to drop everything to unpack and image the computers and manage user settings on every machine.

Vernon removes this hassle by having the equipment arrive on site, ready to go. Vernon is built for this.

Why are companies partnering with Vernon for white glove services?

There’s a reason companies choose Vernon specifically to handle these kinds of requests.

For resellers,

  • Vernon increases profit margins by allowing you to close out the equipment order.
  • Vernon in channel neutral and does not sell product, so will never be in competition with you.

For all customers,

  • We can accept equipment from multiple vendors, receive it, configure it, and consolidate it before shipping to you or your customers’ locations.
  • Vernon can handle multi-site deployments, such as configuring hundreds of laptops and shipping them individually to remote employees.
  • The product will arrive in a convenient “power pack.”

Vernon’s “power packs” increase efficiency by creating less waste when the equipment arrives on site. The product is removed from all manufacturer’s packaging and placed in the power pack which you or your customer can then collapse and throw away.

I’m Randall Graham with Vernon Computer Source and I’m the Business Development Manager for North Carolina. Vernon is a short-term computer rental company. We cover the gap that leasing doesn’t cover, which is a year or less. So if you have customers that need equipment for a very short period of time, whether it’d be a trade show or training, we can provide flexible rental terms for a day, a week, a month, two months, six months, again, anything within that year or less time frame.

White Glove Services

On top of that, we’ve kind of expanded into our own internal specialties and offering those as a service, the White Glove Services that include imaging, etching, asset tagging, updating an OS, creating a Chrome Management Console, log-ins.

What these White Glove services give, both the reseller and the end customer, the ability to do is have the equipment arrive on-site, ready to go. The reason that the White Glove Services are needed is because the end customers don’t have the resources to do this on-site. I mean, if you imagine, even if it’s 200 laptops, or 200 desktops arriving on-site to a customer, you’re going to have the manufacturer packaging you’ve got to throw out and it’s going to be a huge mess.

There’s a bunch of trash and all that kind of stuff that you have to get rid of, once it’s enrolled. Plus you’re going to have IT guys that are normally trying to fix printers or manage network issues that are now going to have to image desktops and get user settings on each machine. So we take care of all that upfront and what that gives them the capability to have is equipment arrive on-site, ready to go.

Partnering with Resellers

We partner with a reseller out of the Charlotte area or a deployment within a school system, where they got grant money for what they call a Three To One initiative. And so for every three students, they wanted a Chromebook in their different elementary schools. So what they were looking to do was outside of just purchasing the Chromebooks, they wanted to, what we call, etch their logo on top of the machines, update the OS, which was Chrome, and then on top of that, we had to enroll each laptop, or each Chromebook into each individual elementary school’s, what they call, Chrome Management Console. And then, on top of that, they wanted a custom asset tag so they could help track the machines once they’re on-site. Imagine a small seller trying to do it, or even a school system trying to do it. It takes a lot of additional resources and it’s not something that they specialize in. So that’s why they brought us on board.

We Simplify your Packaging & Recycling

The end customer and the reseller took a tour of our facility, saw the way that we’re built for this type of situation and that’s what set us over the top. They could have used HP directly. They could have used Synex [SP] They could have used Ingram. But again, we’re more customer-focused, so we’ll do one project at a time. We’re not going to try and filter projects in and out of each other. What set us apart for this one was our power packs. And what the power packs are is we remove all the manufacturer packaging that the equipment comes in and we put them in individual cardboard slots.

So when the equipment gets to each elementary school, it arrives, they pull them out of the different slots, put them into the carts, and then, all it is is a collapsible cardboard box and wooden skid that you’ve just got to throw in the dumpster, versus if you have it arrive from a manufacturer or a distributor, you’re gonna have all the original manufacturer packaging, which comes with styrofoam, plastic, cardboard, and it’s a lot more to throw out. And so this is more of a what we call a green or environmentally friendly solution that, you know, you don’t have to worry about, once it gets on-site.
