Sony S1 and S2 tablets

The disaster in Japan wasn’t able to stop Sony from releasing two new, much talked-about tablets in Tokyo.

The electronics major unveiled the new tablets to journalists at a press conference earlier today, according to the Sony blog.

The company wrote that the new tablets, code-named S1 and S2, will operate on Android 3.0 and are WiFi and 3G/4G compatible.

The tablets will have many of the same features of its counterparts (Web browsing, email, games and book accessibility), but instead of iTunes, will feature Sony’s Qriocity music and video serve in addition to the PlayStation Suite and Sony Reader store.

The S1 has a 9.4-inch display and a “off center gravity design” meant to make it easier for the user to grasp.

The S2 is unique in that is has TWO 5.5-inch displays, and folds in the center.  Users can navigate on both screens separately, or combine the two for larger presentations.  The dual screens also prove to be useful for video, enabling the user to watch the video on one screen and utilizing the controls on the other.

The remote access functions of the tablets also make the duo stand out for both the home and for business presentations.  Not only can the tablets be used as a universal remote control for multiple AV devices (to turn on the TV, change the channel or adjust the volume), they are also capable of “throwing” personal content from the tablets onto large screen televisions or music to wireless speakers by using DLNA technology.

Such features can be infinitely useful for event planners and other businesses that value portability and convenience in their IT equipment, making tablet rentals a hot topic.  As tablet technology continues to evolve, we here at Vernon Computer Source are keeping up with the latest gadgets and other IT rentals to help your business succeed.
