Take to the Skies Like American Airlines and Take Advantage of Our Samsung Galaxy Tablet Rentals
Samsung and American Airlines have just inked a deal to have the Samsung Galaxy Tab stand-in as an in-flight entertainment vehicle. Over 6,000 of the sleek tablets will be deployed onboard for flights at some point later in the 2011 calendar year. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be replacing the current personal entertainment offered on premier transcontinental flights. The Samsung Galaxy Tab was one of the first tablets to run off of an Android Honeycomb OS, and as such, it got a lot of publicity. It was also the first devices to be considered of a class to compete with the popular iPad – thanks to its identical $499 price point. When compared side-by-side, the Samsung Galaxy is lighter and thinner than the iPad, but boasts better resolution and more memory. It also operates with NVIDIA’s Tegra 2, one of the more popular mobile standards of the present day. The Samsung 10.1” has WiFi, a 1280 x 800 pixel display as well as forward- and rear-facing cameras – all features which make it a perfectly able tablet. So why hasn’t it taken off before now? The competition among the tablet PC market has been fierce, with all of the tier one (and even some of the tier two) manufacturers churning out options. While few of them are as well made or visually attractive as the Galaxy Tab, the Android-backed market has been trounced solidly by the iPad’s early start. Through large scale deals like this one, however, Samsung stands to make the Galaxy a household name in no time. According to Tim Wagner, the vice president and general manager of enterprise markets for Samsung Mobile, “Our engagement with American Airlines further illustrates the growing interest and demand we’re seeing from enterprise customers for the Samsung Galaxy portfolio.” He added, “As we continue to grow our enterprise customer base, we’re committed to empowering a connected mobile workforce and enabling leading companies like American Airlines to enhance their customers’ experience by providing world-class entertainment and enterprise-ready devices.” And what’s good for the goose is good for the gander – as Americans become more familiarized with tablets outside of the iPadosphere, that particular market segment is bound to grow. [Editor’s Note: For those wanting to see how this technology will fly in different business environments, feel free to take advantage of our Samsung Galaxy tablet rental options.
