Pitch Perfect Events Shares Appeal of iPad Rentals in the Field

Vernon Computer Source provides iPad rentals, internationally, to a variety of different companies. Often, we’re exposed to the needs of a variety of different industries and lately that awareness has shown us a distinctive lack of enterprise applications.

For meeting planners and conference presenters alike, there seems to be a distinct lack of good software on the market.

So when Thomas Pitchford, principal and event planner at Pitch Perfect Events, shared some of his in-the-field findings, we knew we wanted to share his insights with our other customers.

One year ago, Thomas made a huge transition from his usual 500+ page production binder. These binders are common in the event industry, and often house every event document, photograph and note. This can be cumbersome while on the move – so Thomas found a solution.

He put his many, many documents onto an iPad.

Not only was this move beneficial for Thomas’ back – but it’s also good for the environment (less paper usage, less carbon emissions than a computer due to the iPad’s small size).

What did Thomas use? He relies on GoodReader for his document organization as it allows users to store a multitude of folders and files directly from your computer or over the air via iDisc or Mail. And, GoodReader allows Thomas to mark up PDFs with text, highlighting or free-form writing.

To control background music at functions, Thomas relies on Remote App via a WiFi connection to adjust the volume, playlists and other functions. For voice recording personal notes or taping summit meetings, he relies on QuickVoice.

Lastly, Thomas relies on Adobe Ideas to sketch out how he wants conference halls to be set up for events. It allows free-form design right there on screen – so that he can properly demonstrate how he wants the tables chevroned.

For moving documents around on the cloud, he recommends iDisc or Dropbox. It lets users upload all of their files to the cloud – which makes for one great solution while traveling.

The move towards iPad adaption has been scary for some, and we hope some of our customers will feel more comfortable after having read about Thomas’ real-world iPad use.
