PCWorld's "30 Day Project" Highlights Benefits of Apple iPad Rental
We love it when Tony Bradley of PCWorld embarks on his zany "30 Day Projects." The staff writer embarks on periodic missions to spend thirty days using the latest tech craze, shedding valuable insights that bypass every manner of marketing scheme. In the past, Bradley has done his month-long sessions with Google Docs, Ubuntu Linux – but this round, he’s covering the Apple iPad. The much-hyped tablet has been the darling of the IT world for quite awhile now, but there’s so much hype and gimmickry surrounding its functionality that it’s hard to see through the fog. Luckily, Bradley has done what is necessary by going cold-turkey, foreswearing himself from PCs and substituting the Apple iPad for everyday use. For those considering an iPad rental investment for business adaptation – Bradley’s insights make for great guidelines. He takes readers through the model selection process and shares his pet peeves. He also examines certain step-by-step processes, such as email setup, social networking, task management and data streaming. In his darkest moments, Bradley even examines some of the not-so-loveable features of the iPad. But on day 12 – which was incidentally, my birthday – Bradley looked at a segment that was most useful to our clientele, the enterprise consumer. Immediately, he latched on to one of the biggest problems surrounding the iPads adaption in business: "Unfortunately, most [business applications]don't have any direct iPad equivalent, so I have to do some research and find workarounds or suitable alternatives. You can accomplish virtually anything, but only with some additional effort and learning curve." As an example, a search for a Quicken stand-in can be daunting (there currently isn’t really a fully functional option for this regard). Users in need of Microsoft’s integral Microsoft Word suite can buy Apple’s compatible iWork version, but there’s still a learning curve. In general, there really is an app for everything, so it is just a matter of looking. To take advantage of any of our tablets, fill out a hassle-free FlexQuote, and we’ll even go through the trouble of pre-loading whatever apps you might need. |
