Panasonic Monitors Boost Vatican Security
Even the Vatican is getting on board the technology train. At the Vatican Museum, ten digital displays were installed within its new entrance – compliments of Panasonic. The purpose of these high-tech installations is to share information with tourists by providing directions and other information. While most of the displays ranged from 50 to 65 inches, there was one very special, larger-than-life installation. A 103 inch, wide-viewing screen has taken central focus, allowing viewers to appreciate its real-life sized visbility. But the main entrance of the museum isn’t the only place the Vatican decided to install Panasonic’s monitors. It is also taking technology to a new, secure level. As many businesses have figured out, technology can bolster security in any important location. Any corporate headquarters in Manhattan is usually riddled with security cameras, which produce video feed filters over into a room where personnel monitor it for any potential threats. The Vatican, in its own way, is just as important as any major corporation – and requires just as much security. In the Vatican’s surveillance and control room, Panasonic installed thirty-two 42 inch monitors. These models were chosen for their clear color reproduction qualities, which security personnel rely on. According to Panasonic officials, quality monitors like those it installed for the Vatican are important because they allow “…security operators to study high-quality video in real time.” The relationship between the Vatican and the Panasonic goes back to 1999, when the tech manufacturer was called upon to install the religious organization’s original video surveillance system, which is still used to monitor the square, the basilica, the Vatican Museum and all other state areas. How does Panasonic feel about their long-standing relationship with the Vatican? As to the “artistic” elements, i.e. those related with protecting the Vatican Museum, Laurent Abadie, President and CEO of Panasonic Europe, said “To have our professional plasma technology installed inside the Vatican Museum to support the viewing of precious pieces on display and to drive visitors inside thecourse of museums.” On the security front, Claudio Lamperti Managing Director of Panasonic Italia, underlines thetheme of security: “Our main hope”, said “is to continue our relationship during the coming years, to support the job of the surveillance and security teams at The Vatican with our best technology.” For businesses or organizations requiring monitor rentals for digital displays or security enhancements, click here for a FlexQuote from Vernon Computer Source.
