PC Makers to Compete in Tablet Rentals with Windows 8

Well-known computer manufacturers like Acer and Lenovo are planning to launch new tablets in 2012, and will reportedly run on Microsoft Windows 8. For these tablets, Intel chips known as Clover Trail have been designed by Intel especially for Android based tablet PCs. 

According to reports, the tablets are expected to be released in the third quarter. 

Once released, the devices will be in strong demand in the tablet rentals market. Lenovo and Acer plan to partner with other PC manufacturing giants like Dell and Hewlett Packard to create Windows-based tablets in 2012.

The key motivation behind this, it seems, is to offer stiff competition to iPads. Having over 70 percent market shares across the world, Apple currently rules the tablet market. Perhaps with joined forces, the PC makers can create some real competition.

Google also aims at entering the expanding tablet market in 2012. Google’s Android based platforms did fairly well. The company gained shares in the market with Samsung and Motorola releasing Android based tablets. Google's Executive Chairman revealed in a recent statement that the company plans to manufacture tablets directly. The devices that the company will produce, he says, will be the best in the industry. Tablets from Google will be marketed under the Nexus brand of the company.

Apple is expected to release its new iPad in March or April 2012. Reports suggest that in the next iPad, Apple will provide a very high resolution display. A small screen version of the iPad may be released in the later half of the year.
