According to Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, the sales of iPad have not been affected by Kindle Fire from Amazon. He said that he has been paying special attention to the US market to see if the launch of Kindle Fire would adversely affect the iPad. The first quarter financial results of Apple however were quite impressive. According to Cook, this is an indication that despite the popularity of the inexpensive tablet from Amazon, the iPad still rules the tablet market. iPad, as you may already know is available for rent from our iPad rentals service.

Cook affirmed that the company is not worried about competition. According to him, not many would opt to buy the limited-function devices offered by various tablet manufacturers. Cook remarked that not even the full-function tablets like Samsung Galaxy Tab, Asus Eee pad Transformer Prime, or Motorola Xoom have been able to affect the sales of iPad. He further added that no matter how intense the competition is, the iPad will always be the market leader. He revealed that more than 55 million iPads have been sold since its launch in 2010.

Cook expects iPad sales to become even better. He is hopeful that there will be a day when tablet sales will exceed PC sales. According to him, PC manufacturers are suffering much from the success of the iPad, as people prefer to opt for a portable device that offers many attractive features. A recent research conducted by IDC, a reputed research firm, showed that tablet sales in the US are already affecting desktop and laptop sales.
