According to Lenovo, despite the proliferation of mobile devices like smartphones, tablets and laptops, the demand for PCs will persist in the market. Francis Ivan Judan, Distributor Channels Manager of Lenovo Philippines stated that PCs will not become irrelevant. Rather, they will complement mobile technology, as PCs play a significant role in the convergence process of devices.
Convergence is quite common in the IT world today. It refers to the concept of combining two or more technologies into one device. The most common example of convergence is taking pictures through a mobile phone. According to industry experts, convergence refers to combining more than one distinct phenomena or entity.
Judan stated that to meet the increasing demand for convergence, PC manufacturers have made significant innovations to their products. PCs developed in the recent years have been highly energy efficient. Lenovo introduced an all-in-one PC which consumes only 150 watts of power. The models introduced by the company in the past consumed about 250 watts of power. The new all-in-one PC from Lenovo also occupies less desk space than its predecessors, available with separate CPUs and monitors.
Judan also stated that Lenovo addressed the requirements of consumers of all categories – big companies, small enterprises and families. Nine products have been launched in the all-in-one segment.
