Acer has unveiled Acer Aspire S5, an ultraportable laptop at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2012. The company has claimed that this 15mm thin device which weighs 1.35 kg is the thinnest ultra-book in the world. This device has a strong magnesium-aluminum alloy cover.

An Intel Core processor will power this laptop. Aspire S5 features PowerSmart battery pack, v4 Dolby Home Theatre technology and SSD storage. It will have 8 GB RAM, and comes preloaded with Windows 7.

The Aspire S5 has an Acer Always Connect and Green Instant On technology which reduces resume and boot time. It has an I/O port panel that houses USB 3.0, HDMI, and thunderbolt ports hidden under its hinge. It also features a webcam and a built-in microphone.

The company has said that the battery of Aspire S5 will last around 10 hours. This device is expected to arrive in the market by the second quarter of this year. President of Acer Inc, Jim Wog, said that this latest arrival from the company will set a new trend in thin laptops. He said that Acer is hopeful that the unique features of this device will attract a lot of consumers.

Besides this, Acer has launched AcerCloud, a service that syncs music, documents, and photos across various devices by the manufacturer. AcerCloud will make use of Clear.fi from the company for syncing applications. The company has said that this service will be available on all the PCs that the company will bring out in the future.
