The Mathematics Are Clear: Apple’s New "iPad 2 Plus" Will Make a Great iPad Rental Option
Apple, Apple, Apple – you’ve done it again. You’re almost getting greedy now, with Oracle just launching its iPad rental friendly virtualized desktop software and the grossly (under?) exaggerated sales estimates for your iPhone 5 release. You just had to dominate the market news channels with rumors of your iPad 3 release. And then you ripped the carpet right from under us, by declaring your next gen iPad shall not be called the iPad 3, but the "iPad 2 Plus." While we wonder if you might just be tweaking Google’s nose, the timing seems impeccable, as the rumored next genner should be coming out sometime around the holiday. According to Craig Berger, an analyst at FBR Capital, the rumors might not be all that far off. We could very well be seeing an "iPad 2 Plus" version released very soon. Berger said, "We hear Apple could migrate the iPad’s display resolution from a current pixel density of 132 ppi to 250-300 ppi for the ‘iPad 2 Plus’ (note that the iPhone 4′s screen is 326 ppi)." He added, "If this device does come out as a high-end iPad for the holidays, then Q4 production volumes could diminish somewhat as screen constraints again arise as LG and/or Samsung would likely have difficulties ramping screen yield rates for these high resolution displays right out of the gate. While we find this new commentary interesting, we await more confirming data points from other supply chain contacts before fully believing a new iPad device is coming in 2011." To us, it sounds like the iPad 2 Plus is just a glorified iPad 2 with prettier pixilation, but what do we know? We only write about the tech industry every day. In the meantime, we eagerly await all manner of plus projects, whether they come from Apple, HP, Google or Facebook. For those interested in renting an iPad or capitalizing on the iPad’s soon-to-be-released plus-tastic descendant, keep us in mind. We service other businesses internationally – and can offer next day delivery. |
