LCD Manufacturers Increase Production Even as Sales Figures Underwhelm
Considering an LCD rental for your next business event – but not sure which one to take advantage of? Don’t settle in too comfortably – it seems like many an OEM is going to keep on rapidly developing LCD technology. At least, according to DisplaySearch. The market research company is on a roll today. First, it sent out an analysis about the glaring success of capacitive touch screen adaptation. And now it’s revealing some rather positive results for LCD televisions everywhere. Taiwanese Foxconn Technology Group, Chimei Innolux Corp., TPV Technology Ltd., Compal Electronics Inc. and Amtran Technology Co. will all be ramping up production in the coming year – by nearly 20 percent. The move might arch a few eyebrows because overall, LCD sales have been down in both North America and Western Europe. But the recent holiday season in China was a positive one, leading top makers to make the decision to press forward with more manufacturing. And besides, in North America, our own holiday season is soon upon us, and that’s when manufacturers tend to make a little extra dough. According to Deborah Yang, a research director over at DisplaySearch, "The slowing market demand, combined with competition for market share, has led LCD TV makers to focus on lower-cost models and price promotions in the second half of 2011." Yang went on to add, "It's believed that price elasticity still exists in certain main regions, but LCD TV brands remain cautious in their plans. Many brands are struggling with weak sales in developed markets and are undertaking inventory clearance in Western Europe." According to last month’s figures, it seems like LCD TV sales rates went up six percent – but they were still less than market forecasts. Despite what may happen with the LCD market, we are poised to take advantage of all the latest offerings for our customer base. We stock LCD rental options from Panasonic, Sharp, Lenovo, HP and beyond. |
