iPad 2 Release Buzz Tracked to the Quick
The hype for the Apple iPad 2 still continues. I remember the weeks – no – the months, leading up to its release, when many a tech blogger and article writer speculated as to its release dates, its specs – and even what color it might come in. But as the much anticipated release date of the iPad 2 approaches, fans are in a fever pitch. While the release date has been closely followed, some are even narrowing the availability down to a specific hour on March 11. 5:00 p.m., local time – to be exact. According to an email that PCMag shared with the rest of the world, Apple officials said “Be the first to get the next iPad. The Apple Retail Store is the best place to experience iPad. Our Specialists will show you around the features, help you choose the perfect model, and set everything up just the way you like. So you'll be up and running before you leave the store." Best Buy and Target will also be carrying the popular tablet devices, but Walmart is a little behind the fold. Apple won’t be taking pre-orders, so if you’re worried about having the iPad 2 sell out right from under you, you’d best be prepared to get in line. In anticipation of the hubbub the iPad 2 was bound to create, Alterian, a social media marketing company, began tracking data feeds from various social media outlets. An Alterian official addressed the point of tracking this kind of data, big brother style: "The data behind these conversations can help give direction to questions that have already been raised: How will the launch of the iPad 2 fair? Will Apple be able to stand up to its new competitors? Do consumers feel the iPad 2 is significantly different from its predecessor?" This kind of information is helpful not only for Apple, but for IT marketers and competitors alike. Following public discussions is a good way to keep track of what products are hot – and what products are not. And the Apple iPad 2 is certainly sizzling. So… get in line. |
