The company I work for offers a bevy of different Sun servers and storage systems to its corporate clients for their rental needs.
Among these, the Sun 7210 unified storage system deserves a special kind of mention. InfoWorld gave them a coveted 9.2 out of 10 rating.
And that rating was backed by praise. Paul Venezia, a writer at InfoWorld who happens to know a thing or two about servers, said, “The Sun Storage 7210 Unified Storage System's combination of 48 drives, SSD log storage, broad protocol support, ZFS, and amazing GUI make for one great filer.”
While that in itself wasn’t a glowing enough review, Paul went on to pick apart the servers qualities over the course of his article. At the end, he summarized his feelings on the Sun 7210 storage system quite clearly: “…after only a few minutes of use, I was smitten.”
Smitten is not an oft-heard term in the tech world, so this 7210 must indeed be something special.
But if “smitten” wasn’t enough to convince you that the Sun 7210 might be the perfect option for your company’s storage needs, think on Venezia’s parting words: “…it may be the most complete filer interface I've ever seen, blowing the doors off Network Appliance's Web-based manager.”
That’s high praise indeed!
