Capacitive Touch Screen LCD Rental Units Available from Vernon Computer Source

I’m not bragging when I say I’ve seen it all (as far as technology goes). Here at Vernon Computer Source, the warehouse is stocked with all of the latest technology – nearly $50 million worth. When it comes to the LCD rental stock, the company stocks everything from 19" LCDS to large-scale video walls. It also stocks one of the most cutting-edge interactive whiteboard monitors, the Samsung 650TS.

But technology is constantly changing and even I need to constantly re-educate myself as to what’s out there.

And it seems that Samsung isn’t the only game in town when it comes to producing large-scale, interactive touch screen LCD monitors.

Perceptive Pixel has revealed a new 82-inch design that is powered by "projected capacitive" technology. It has 1080p HD resolution displayed at 120Hz, and a fairly expedient response time. But really, the best part is the capacitive touch screen element.

There are overlays and other more primitive techniques that other companies use to acquire touch screen applications. But that sort of method impacts quality, as overlays distort image quality. For a truly impressive image, manufacturers like Samsung and Perceptive Pixel have turned to optical and infrared developments.

Now, chances are that our readers have heard of Samsung, but not Perceptive Pixel – but that may change. Pixel was recognized in 2009 with a National Design Award from the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt Museum. And in 2010, 3M awarded Pixel recognition for assisting in its New Ventures business sector.

David Slobodin, the vice president of hardware engineering at Perceptive Pixel, came out to share his thoughts concerning the new 82" behemoth. Slobodin said, "No other company can deliver the precision and performance of our best-in-class optically bonded pro-cap displays. Our new 82" multi-touch LCD represents a technological breakthrough that sets a new standard for the display industry."

Them’s fighting words, and eerily reminiscent of what we said two months ago about the Samsung 650TS.

But there’s room in the world for more than one exceptional LCD. Multi-touch technology is here to stay, and ones with highly responsive, quick touch times are in demand.
