Vizio had announcedthe launch of its new widescreen HD LCD TV a long time ago. After the lengthy wait, the gadget is finally in the market. This series of TV sets has been named: XVT. It’s the first range of widescreen LCD HD TVs from Vizio to have a 21:9 aspect ratio.
What’s more, this particular model, which has been designated ‘The XVT Cinemawide LED Smart TV with Theater 3D,’ has the reputation of being the first ultra-widescreen LCD TV with a 21:9 aspect ratio in the United States.
The unique feature of these ultra-widescreen displays is that home theater fans can now watch movies from DVDs and Blu-rays without having to put up with the black bars which would be normally visible at the top and bottom of the screen on a normal TV. This TV set is essentially meant only for watching movies with an exact aspect ratio of 2.35:1, the ratio in which most of the current generation Hollywood movies are released.
It remains to be seen how this TV set works for daily usage, where a satellite feed or a cable TV feed is used as the input. The first model which is released, model number XVT3D580CM, renders 3D pictures with the assistance of passive 3D glasses. The screen measures 58-inches diagonally and can be brought from Vizio’s website as a promotional offer.
