As Apple and Samsung continue to battle in court over the alleged infringement of each company’s technology patents, the public has been able to catch a glimpse of the secret development of future products. Included in these developments is none other than the rumored 7-inch Apple iPad, having been coined “iPad Mini” by tech media.
One of Samsung’s arguments for the design of its Galaxy Tab (our most popular Android tablet rental), is that it is not uncommon to be “inspired” by the products of competitors, and that in fact, Apple does the same. In court, Samsung’s lawyer revealed an email from the company’s head of iTunes, advocating the building of a smaller iPad, justifying the notion by citing an article that both praised the 7-inch Galaxy Tab and criticized the iPad for its size.
In the email, Cue noted that Steve Jobs had been “very receptive” to the idea of producing a 7-inch tablet.
The rumored smaller tablet is being treated as a definite expectation in the tech realm, the only questions being when will it be released and what specs will we see? Some analysts have pointed to a release as early as the end of September, just after the new iPhone, predicted to be released at the beginning of the month.
