HP launched its latest Ultrabook-like laptop called Envy Sleekbook 6, which is considered to be one of the best looking laptops priced at $599 with top performance. The laptop is an addition to the Envy line and is called a Sleekbook because it runs on an AMD CPU and has a few component differences when compared to other Ultrabooks.
Being one of the slimmest 15 inch laptops, the Envy Sleekbook 6 includes up to 4 GB of 667MHz DDR3 memory, along with a 500GB hard drive. The specifications also include an AMD Radeon HD 7500G graphics that are pretty decent for an Ultrabook-like laptop. The midsize laptop weighs about 4.6 pounds and houses a 15.5 inch screen.
Even though the Envy Sleekbook 6 doesn’t have an Ultrabook tag, this AMD model is preferred over the Intel model because of its affordable price range. The AMD’s latest chip that is called an Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) instead of CPU isn’t as fast as the Intel third-gen quad core processors. So in the process of gaining a cheaper laptop you may have to sacrifice a little on the performance.
The laptop comes in an all-black brushed-metal finish design that includes a few features some have found to be unfavorable. Since the long center hinge is anchored only on the inside of the laptop, the screen feels a little wobbly. Also, the metal finish is susceptible to smudges and fingerprints. The island-style keyboard isn’t backlit but has a touchpad which is quite comfortable to use.
The display comes with a regular resolution of 1366x768 pixels. The laptop also houses a Beats Audio subsystem that allows for a wider range of audio flexibility.
